Since it is something useful for me I do have to do keep up in which I kind of do. But blogging does help because then people in areas can look at my knowledge or see my portfolio and see what I capable of. If a professional just somewhat found my weebly, I need to represent myself in a way that looks like I am interested in the industry. Of course though I still have things to learn upon having to do my blogs, portfolio, etc. Since there are many different techniques upon showing people my work. Blogging is also like a journal almost because I get to do write about me and within the post that I have to write about. It's like that because most is upon opinions even with a bit of research or it's about my experience, progress, and knowledge. Looking back I had no experience what so ever about blogs up until now and I will keep on learning more about them. If of course that is if I pass GAD, and if I do then my future self will read this and laugh. But overall blogging is now a part of what I do. And it's great.
This is my final post for the year and I have been blogging for two years. The blogs main purpose or intent was for reflecting on my learning and having to gain an understanding of game design by opening doors to the knowledge of it. Looking back on those old blog posts I can see that I have build on skills and see new skills that I need to work on. Meaning that there are many things that I didn't know I can or or can't. And really I think it's amazing how I am here doing all of these things that I would probably haven't been able to do unless I had made my decision on going to this pathway. I have learned so many things during these two years that I had no idea about within the gaming industry. And so I do think that using the blog does succeeded in it's goal.

We have been working in Unity for the past year and of course there are many other game engines that professionals use. One of them which is Unreal engine 4 or UE4. In UE4 their coding is different to Unity. UE4 uses Blue Prints, or BP, which is basically visual scripting. They use nodes, color codes for the different classes, and many others things. Which I think is a good thing for those who are on the visual side. Mostly those who aren't a fan on programming/coding. But of course there are some parts where you would need to code, I believe using C++. Which I don't know the language, I heard or saw somewhere that it's a bit more challenging than C#, but they do have a source code which is good I guess. Some parts or words have the same meaning throughout. But I only know a bit of UE4 and hopefully I get to explore on it to see how games or designs are made in this engine.
If we were to switch Unity to UE4 I think I would be less frustrated upon having to create a script and code. Although when I first started Unity I was completely new and the same will be to UE4, even though I have watched a couple of tutorials. Still it will take time for me to understand how things work, why they work, what else I can I do, what things can work together to get something else, etc. After watching tutorials it does seem a bit overwhelming but as time goes, I think I would be able to comfortable with it. And hopefully I won't be frustrated as much with it as well. I would be fine to switch Unity to UE4 in my opinion, I do have a say in this but it's not my decision whether or not I am going to switch or not. I do think though that it will be more exciting to see what UE4 can do and what makes it different to well the only game engine I have worked in, Unity. Overall even if we didn't switch to it I would download it to see how it works because it looks cool and the system seems less complicated to me. |
